Congratulations, you have been accepted for an traineeship in Belgium! Now, you can start preparing everything for your amazing internship! Don’t worry, the IAESTE Belgium Incoming department is responsible for assisting you during your internship here, and ensuring that you do not only receive a warm reception, but enjoy your stay here in Belgium as well. In the next sections you can find more information about what to do before and during your arrival in Belgium. Feel free to contact us any time. We hope that you’ll love our little country with our Beer-drinking and Fry-loving culture, and above all, that you enjoy your internship here, with us.

Before Arrival

Welcome Guide

The Welcome Guide contains useful information about your stay in Belgium, e.g. basic lifestyle, how to get around, financial matters or who to call when you’re in an emergency.

Accomodation

Once you are nominated, you will receive the 'Accommodation and Arrival Information' by email. Accommodation is organised either by the employer or yourself with help from the Local Committee.

Buddy

Every trainee gets a buddy assigned. He/She will be your main contact person. In case of any questions or problems you can reach your buddy. In case your buddy is not available, you will be referred to someone else.

Arrival

Belgium has five airports: Brussels – Zaventem, Charleroi, Ostend, Luik – Bierset and Deurn. The two most frequented airports are Brussels – Zaventem and Charleroi. The former is more centrally situated, and has a more easy connection to Ghent, Leuven or Brussels city (by car and public transport).

Please inform us as soon as possible about your arrival details or if any changes in your travel plans occur. In any case, assistance is provided along the way.

During Your Internship

Our IAESTE Local Committees (Brussels, Leuven, Ghent) organize various activities during the summer months. Don’t miss the chance to meet fellow IAESTE interns and explore Belgium. Keep an eye on the event calendar because it will be updated regularly!
